Celebrity Cruise Day 3 - Osaka at Night

Osaka at Night

If there’s one city in Japan that truly comes alive after dark, it’s Osaka. On Day 3 of our 12-day Celebrity Cruise from Japan to South Korea, we had the rare treat of staying overnight in port—and let me tell you, experiencing Osaka at night was pure magic.

The Electric Vibe of Osaka After Dark
Picture this: we’re in an Uber heading back to the cruise port, and everywhere we look the city is glowing. πŸŒƒ Neon lights reflect on the streets, shop signs flicker in every direction, and the sidewalks are alive with locals and travelers weaving through the nightlife.

And then there are the bikes. 🚲 In Osaka, bicycles practically have their own rhythm, zipping through the streets with effortless speed. It adds to the energy, making the city feel like it’s moving in every direction at once.

Of course, no walk through Osaka at night is complete without street food. 🍒 Vendors line the streets, still serving up fresh takoyaki (Osaka’s famous octopus balls) and savory skewers well into the evening. The smell alone could stop you in your tracks!

Why This Overnight Stop Feels So Special

What made this night truly unforgettable was the fact that Osaka is our only overnight port on this cruise. πŸŒβš“ Usually, cruise ships depart by evening, but here, we had the unique chance to soak in the city’s nighttime charm.

Just steps away from the ship, we could see the iconic Tempozan Ferris Wheel, lighting up the waterfront. Being able to step off the ship into such a lively atmosphere felt like the best of both worlds—cruise comfort combined with vibrant city life.

Fun fact: The Tempozan Ferris Wheel is one of the largest in the world, standing at 112.5 meters tall. It’s even lit up in different colors depending on the weather forecast! Talk about a bright way to check the skies.ο»Ώ

Osaka: The City That Never Sleeps (Well, Almost)

Osaka is often called “Japan’s Kitchen” for its food scene, but it could just as easily be known as “Japan’s Playground” for the way the city thrives at night. From the glowing billboards of Dotonbori to late-night ramen shops and bustling karaoke bars, there’s no shortage of energy.

And for us, Day 3 was only the beginning. The best part? We woke up the next morning with another full day in Osaka ahead of us. πŸŒ™βœ¨

What’s Next on Our Celebrity Cruise

This was just one highlight of our journey. In the next episode, we’ve got something extra special lined up: a local guest is joining us onboard for a performance like no other. 🎢 Don’t miss it!

If you’ve ever thought about cruising through Japan, make sure Osaka is on your list. Whether it’s by day or night, this city knows how to put on a show.ο»Ώ

Did you know there’s a place in South Dakota where you can literally take home a piece of history? πŸ‘€ Yep—welcome back to Part 3 of our Crazy Horse Memorial adventure, where we dive into one of the most meaningful and fascinating areas of the entire complex: the Native American Educational and Cultural Center. πŸ‘€ “Would you believe me if I told you this mountain has had over ELEVEN MILLION tons of rock blasted away… and it’s still not finished? Let me show you why this $5 tour is one of the best travel deals in America.” Welcome to Part 2 of our Crazy Horse Memorial adventure — and today we’re hopping on the guided bus tour that takes you right up to the mountain itself. For just five dollars per person, this ride gets you shockingly close to the carving-in-progress — and trust me… hearing the story while standing beneath it hits completely different. Our guide, Allen, shared how this all began back in 1947, when sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski arrived in the Black Hills from Connecticut… to a place with no roads, no water, no electricity. He literally lived in a tent for seven months before clearing trees and building a log studio by hand. By the late 1950s, with ten kids to raise, the family even opened a dairy farm right on site — and today they still raise cattle here. Oh — and the very first admission to Crazy Horse in 1950? πŸ‘‰ Just 50 cents per carload.
